8 Ways To Make Happiness Contagious

My family lives on a small island just off the coast of South Carolina and everyday we’re thankful for the tiny town’s positive energy. Okay–that sounds a bit granola, but you can’t help but notice the contagious happiness. Everyone greets each other without fail from the post office to the coffee shop.

It’s easy to feel like the world is working against you in this fast paced society but it may be you working against yourself.

Take these small steps toward happiness and both you and those around you are sure to notice:

1. Show Gratitude Daily

Remind yourself everyday of the people and relationships for which you’re thankful. Whatever method you use, reminding yourself of those parts of your life that you love can help outshine the parts you wish to change.

2. Remember a Friend

Every week dedicate your week to a friend or family member. It doesn’t have to be a huge deal–maybe send a thoughtful text, letter, or email. Send a birthday card or a small gift. Whatever you do, make it about them not you.

3. Look People in the Eye

When you’re talking to someone, even if it’s a touch uncomfortable, look them in the eye. The eyes really are the windows to the soul and it shows you’re a real person who cares about the person you’re talking to at the moment. For an added bonus, smile. It really makes a difference.
